Take a Risk 4, What if I Get Hurt?
August 14th
When we experience danger, pain, or fear, it’s often difficult to understand how God plays into the picture. Trusting God in those times can be a real test of our faith. God is beside us, holding our hands through any tough situation. We can turn to God, and he will be our refuge and safe place, even in the midst of horrible situations.
Job 1:12-22 illustrates one of the strongest biblical examples of suffering. Satan claimed that Job remained faithful to God only because he’d been blessed by God. Satan suggested that Job would reject God if all Job had was taken from him. God allowed the test, and Job lost his wealth, his family, and his health. Job’s suffering wasn’t caused by sin; he was tested because he was righteous. But as a reminder of Jeremiah 29:11, God had good plans for Job after this period of testing. When we get hurt, it doesn’t mean that God has abandoned us. Like Job, we can be sad without blaming God or turning away from him.
